TOPIC 1 PHYSICAL for Seminars and Residential

1 A HUNDRED WAYS TO BEND. ASCENDING LEVELS OF PRACTICE 1 1/2 TO 2 HRS

a  Forward Paschimottanasana - Maha mudra.

b  Backward Salabhasana - Chakrasana.

c  Sideways Chandrasana - Trikonasana variations.

d  Twisting Ardha Matsyendrasana.

e  Five Levels of a progressive, mixed ability continuous practice for all.

f   A Hundred Ways A progressive, mixed ability continuous practice.

g  One asana developed in the morning and a complimentary asana in the afternoon, with lots of

modifications.


Notes:

a to e  Suitable for yoga days and training days where some specific theory and techniques are

requested. Integrated into a yoga session but with a clear aim to highlight one direction at each

session. Different ‘styles’ of yoga will also be included. Modifications always offered for the less

physical.

e  Suitable for yoga days to provide a totally involved, ‘doing’ session for all abilities.

f  Wall space needed.

g  Pre selected or chosen by the group preference on the day from 10 asanas.

2 SALUTES TO THE SUN 1 HR EACH

a  From chairs to chants. A graduated approach, to enable mixed ability to practice together and

extend ways of practicing. Chairs needed.

b  From chants to chakras. For the experienced.

3 TECHNIQUES OF STRETCHING 1 TO 1 1/2 HRS

Varied and enjoyable way to apply knowledge of muscle and joint potential to asanas.

A lot of pair work, firmly supervised.

4 ALL THE LITTLE BITS OF YOGA 1 TO 2 HRS

Yoga based practices for eyes, hands, feet, nose, ears, etc. Suitable for an afternoon session,

stimulating without being tiring.

5 MUDRAS AND BANDHAS 1 TO 1 1/2 HRS

a  Simple gesture and movement. To awaken breathing and emotion.

b  Practice for all, in controlling the pelvic floor muscles.

c  Stronger muscle control. "How to" perform Bandha Traya and Maha Mudra for experienced.
